Seawolves Beat New Hampshire, Move to 4-0 in America East Play

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Freshman Jack Valderrabano (New York, N.Y.) scored an early goal to give the Stony Brook men's soccer team a 1-0 win over New Hampshire on Saturday night from LaValle Stadium.

With the win, the Seawolves moved to 7-4-2 (4-0-0 AE) on the season. New Hampshire falls to 8-3-1 (2-2-0).

Quoting head coach Ryan Anatol
"You have to defend well to get results, and that's always been a goal of ours. We've also put ourselves in position where we've been able to create chances and score goals. We had to defend well tonight, and I thought we did that," said Anatol. "New Hampshire is a solid team and they put us under pressure at times, but we scored a goal twelve minutes in and that put us in a position where they had to chase the game.

When you score early and put yourself up, you put yourself in a position where you can be a little bit more pragmatic in the game and I thought we did a good job."

Highlights
  • Valderrabano scored in the 13th minute on a pass from junior Jarred Dass (Marabella, Trinidad). It was Valderrabano's first career goal.

  • Redshirt sophomore Gabriel Fernandes (North Babylon, N.Y.) tried to double the Seawolves' lead in the 37th minute but missed high.
  • The Seawolves had the lead at halftime for the fourth time this season.
