BURLINGTON, V.T. – Stony Brook women's basketball wraps up the 2017-18 regular season on Sunday, Feb. 25, traveling to Vermont for a 2 p.m. conference contest.
Last Time Out
- Stony Brook women's basketball earned a big conference victory on Sunday afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium, topping New Hampshire by the final score of 62-56.
- The program has now won 9 of their last 12 contests in America East play, and four-straight for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
- Jerell Matthews (Chicago, Ill.) and Shania Johnson (Frederick, MD.) both recorded 15 points in the win to lead the way.
Scouting Vermont
- Vermont is 8-20 so far this year, 5-10 in league play.
- The Catamounts have dropped their last four conference contests, dating back to Feb. 11.

Head Coach Caroline McCombs
- Caroline McCombs is in her fourth season as the head coach of the Stony Brook women's basketball team in 2017-18, as the Seawolves' head coach has risen among the winningest coaches in Stony Brook's Division I era.
- With 17 victories so far in the 2017-18 season, McCombs has now won 62 games on Long Island – which ranks second among Stony Brook coaches in the Division I era. McCombs guided the Seawolves' program to 17 wins in 2014-15, 17 victories in 2015-16, and 12 wins in 2016-17.
3-Point Field Goals
- The Seawolves are shooting 33.0 percent from distance, which ranks No. 2 in the conference to date.
- The Seawolves have forced opponents to shoot just 27.4 percent from 3-point distance so far this season, which ranks No. 1 in the conference and No. 14 nationally. Stony Brook featured a top-40 scoring defense in 2016-17, as the program stifled opponents from beyond the arc, allowing the third-fewest three-pointers in the nation.

Johnson from Distance
- Shania Johnson (Frederick, MD.) has drained 88 3-point field goals so far in 27 games for the Seawolves, which ranks No. 1 in the America East and No. 15 nationally.
- Johnson's 88 3-pointers made so far this year sets a new single-season program record, surpassing Julie Szabo's total of 76 shots from distance in 1999-2000.
- Johnson has scored double-digit point totals in 22 of 28 games this year.
Pouring in Points
- Jerell Matthews (Chicago, Ill.) has recorded double-digit point totals in 21 of 28 games so far this year for the Seawolves.
- Matthews has shot 39.3 percent from distance this year, which currently ranks best in the conference.
Clark on the Glass
- Junior transfer Cheyenne Clark (Deptford, N.J.) has grabbed 9.2 rebound per game so far this season, which ranks No. 2 in the America East behind Binghamton's Alyssa James (9.9 rebounds per contest).
- Clark grabbed 23 rebounds on Dec. 6 vs. Yale, which ties the Seawolves' single-game program record. She then recorded 11 offensive rebounds on Dec. 17 vs. CCSU.
