NORFOLK, VA. – Stony Brook baseball earned the program's 1000
th victory on Sunday afternoon with a 12-0 win over host Norfolk State at Miller Field.
The Seawolves (6-1) earned the sweep of the three games in Virginia with the first shutout of the season. Sophomore RHP
Brian Herrmann (Northport, N.Y.) picked up the win and senior LHP
Kevin Kernan (Mahopac, N.Y.), freshman RHP
Nick Insognia (Niskayuna, N.Y.) and sophomore RHP
Brandon Bonanno (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) finished the combined six-hitter.
Stony Brook's offense exploded for 14 hits, including a career-best four by junior 1B
Michael Russell (Staten Island, N.Y.) and three from sophomore OF
Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.). Wilson also drove in three runs.
Turning Point
Stony Brook broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the third innings and added three more runs in the fifth inning to break the game open.

- Stony Brook's victory was the 1000th in program history.
- Stony Brook's 6-1 start is the best since 2000 when the Seawolves opened that season with seven straight wins.
