HARTFORD, C.T. – Jerell Matthews (Chicago, Ill.) scored a game-high 24 points on Saturday afternoon at Chase Arena, leading Stony Brook women's basketball past Hartford by the final score of 66-58. With the victory, the Seawolves improve to 13-10 (5-5 AE) so far in 2017-18.

Highlights
- The Seawolves shot 25-of-57 (43.9 percent) from the field in total, knocking down nine three-point field goals in the win. Stony Brook recorded an assist on 18 of 25 total baskets.
- Matthews went 6-of-8 from 3-point range, adding four rebounds and two assists to help lead the Seawolves to the conference win.
- Shania Johnson (Frederick, MD.) added 12 points, a season-high 10 assists and six rebounds for the Seawolves, while McKenzie Bushee (Pittsburgh, PA.) chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds of her own.
- Stony Brook outscored Hartford 38-28 in the second half.

- The Seawolves out-rebounded Hartford 45-34, including a 25-12 margin in the second half of action.
- Stony Brook closed out the first half on a 14-6 run over the last 6:46, cutting the deficit to just two points (30-28) at halftime.
- The Seawolves then went on another run over the last four minutes of the third quarter, outscoring Hartford 10-5 to take a 43-42 lead into the final period. Stony Brook carried that momentum into the fourth, outscoring Hartford 7-2 over the first 2:27 of the fourth to stretch its advantage to six points.
