Seawolves fall at home vs. Binghamton

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook women's basketball dropped an America East contest vs. Binghamton, 69-64, on Monday night at Island Federal Credit Union Arena. With the loss, the Seawolves fall to 13-11 (5-6 AE) so far in 2017-18.
 
Shania Johnson (Frederick, MD.) led the way for Stony Brook, recording 26 points, seven rebounds and four assists on the night.
 
Quoting Head Coach Caroline McCombs
"We never got in an offensive flow tonight. A lot of our mistakes led to easy baskets for Binghamton. Give credit to them for being the better team tonight. We need to regroup and get ready for another big conference game on Thursday night at UMass Lowell."
 
Highlights
  • The Seawolves shot 20-of-53 (37.7 percent) from the field in total, knocking down 10 3-point field goals in the loss. Stony Brook recorded an assist on 12 of 20 total baskets.
  • Aaliyah Worley (Philadelphia, PA) tallied a season-high 15 points and five rebounds for the Seawolves, going 5-for-8 from the floor. Worley scored five points in the second quarter, and six in the fourth.
  • Jerell Matthews (Chicago, Ill.) scored 11 points, grabbed five rebounds and recorded three assists.

  • Stony Brook and Binghamton both grabbed 35 total rebounds.
  • The Seawolves turned the ball over 18 times to the Bearcats 12. Binghamton scored 23 points off turnovers, while Stony Brook scored just nine.
  • With the loss, the Seawolves are now 18-19 vs. Binghamton in the Division I era.
