Seawolves drop game two at top-ranked Florida


GAINESVILLE, FLA. – Stony Brook's baseball team dropped the second game of the three-game series 8-0 to No. 1 ranked Florida on Saturday night at McKethan Stadium.  
 
Sophomore CF Chris Hamilton (Schenectady, N.Y.) had a pair of hits for the Seawolves (6-3), including a double.  Junior RHP Bret Clarke (Royersford, Pa.) got the loss despite going 5.0 innings with just two runs allowed on six hits. 

Turning Point
After three scoreless innings, Florida got on the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning the proved to be all the Gators would need for the 11th win of the season.
 
Quoting head coach Matt Senk
"I'm very encouraged by the solid performance of Bret Clarke today. We will need all of our players to take Bret's lead and play to there potential if we are to give ourselves a chance to beat this outstanding Florida team tomorrow."
 
Notes/Stats
  • Stony Brook collected two doubles in Saturday's game to bring the season total to 29.
  • Sophomore CF Chris Hamilton (Schenectady, N.Y.) recorded his first multi-hit game of the season with a pair of hits on Saturday.
  • Senior LHP Teddy Rodliff (Quincy, Mass.) made his 64th appearance on the mound on Saturday, moving him into fifth place on Stony Brook's career list.

Stony Brook will complete the series at Florida on Sunday at 1 p.m. before opening a 12-game home stand against Manhattan on Tuesday at Joe Nathan Field.
