Seawolves fall just short in series finale at No. 1 Florida

GAINESVILLE, FLA. – Despite outhitting No. 1 Florida and getting solid pitching, the Stony Brook's baseball team dropped the final game of the series to the Gators 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at McKethan Stadium.

Sophomore RHP Brian Herrmann (Northport, N.Y.) allowed just four hits in 5.2 innings of work as the starting pitcher and senior RHP Aaron Pinto (west Covina, Calif.) pitched the final 2.1 scoreless innings for the Seawolves (6-4) against the Gators (12-1).

Senior 3B Bobby Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) had two hits and drove in Stony Brook's run, while sophomore RF Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.) also banged out two hits.
?
Turning Point ?
After Stony Brook scored in the opening frame, Florida tied it up with a single run in the fourth inning and took the lead with two runs in the fifth inning.

Quoting head coach Matt Senk
"Brian Herrmann and Aaron Pinto pitched extremely well and gave us a chance to get a big win today. However, when you make mistakes as we did in the fifth inning outstanding teams like Florida will almost always make you pay. We will regroup and learn from this weekend and look forward to getting home to play 15 games at Joe Nathan Field throughout the month of March."
