STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Four Stony Brook baseball pitchers combined to shout visiting Central Connecticut State 5-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Joe Nathan Field.
Freshman RHP
Brian Morrisey (Commack, N.Y.) set the tone in his second career start and only allowed just one hit in 4.0 innings of work to pick up his first career victory, while sophomore RHP
Aaron Glickstein (Dix Hills, N.Y.) allowed two hits and struck out three in 2.2 innings of relief work. Senior LHP
Teddy Rodliff (Quincy, Ma.) worked 1.1 innings and senior RHP
Aaron Pinto (West Covina, Calif.) closed out the game to complete the second shutout of the season for the Seawolves (19-12)
Turning Point
The Seawolves scored all the offense they would need in the bottom of the second inning thanks to a single by sophomore 1B
Chris Hamilton (Schenectady, N.Y.) and a double by junior RF
Dylan Resk (Ardsley, N.Y.) that sent Hamilton around to score. Sophomore SS
Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.) forced home Resk with a bases loaded hit-by-pitch to make it 2-0.
Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"We continued to play terrific defense and the pitching has been very, very good. When you have that kind of pitching and defense, it puts you in a position to win and that's what happened today. I'm proud of the guys overall effort and I'm proud of the fact that we were able to get a shutout today."
