VESTAL, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team dominated Binghamton in the regular season finale, topping the Bearcats 15-9 at the Bearcats Sports Complex Friday night. The victory secures the Seawolves' fourth regular season title since joining the league for the 2002 season. Stony Brook heads into post season play at 7-7 on the year, 5-1 in the conference, while Binghamton sits at 4-11 overall, 1-5 in the America East.

"It was a great team win tonight," said head coach
Jim Nagle. "It has been a pleasure to watch this young team mature each week this season. We are playing our best lacrosse at the right time."
Highlights
- Stony Brook got on the board first as freshman
Jack Walsh (Miller Place, N.Y.) put away an unassisted goal early in the first quarter.
- After Binghamton answered, the Seawolves went off to score five unanswered goals and go up 6-1 midway through the second quarter.
- The Bearcats called a timeout and were able to break up the run after the stoppage in play, but sophomore
Tom Haun (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) responded with back-to-back goals in less than a minute to help Stony Brook take a 9-3 halftime lead.
- The two teams traded goals to open the second half, but the Seawolves were able to string together four straight goals over a ten-minute span through the third and fourth quarters to go up 15-7.
- Binghamton added a pair of goals late, but was unable to get any closer.
Notes
- The Seawolves have claimed their first America East regular-season title since the 2012 season and would share the top spot with Albany barring a win by the Great Danes Saturday afternoon.
- Freshman
Patrick Kaschalk (Windsor, Ontario) put away a season-high four goals in the victory, notching his second hat trick and eighth multi-point game of the year.
- Haun notched a season-high five points in the game, earning his third hat trick of the season and sixth of his career.
- Walsh extended his team-best points streak to 12 games as he finished with one goal and three assists.
- Sophomore
Cory VanGinhoven (Fort Mill, N.C.) put away three goals in the game for his first hat trick of the year, fourth of his career.
- Junior
Ryland Rees (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) scored for the sixth time this season, marking the ninth long-pole goal of the year for the Seawolves.
- Sophomore
Michael Bollinger (Holbrook, N.Y.) got the start and played 55 minutes in cage. He tallied eight saves and allowed seven goals, picking up his sixth win of the season.

The Seawolves have earned a top-two spot in the America East Championships, participating in the post-season tournament for the 17th straight season.
