Hamilton's Three Hits Not Enough in Series Finale Loss at Binghamton

VESTAL, N.Y. – A three-hit day, including a home run and a triple, by sophomore 1B Chris Hamilton (Schenectady, N.Y.) was not enough for the Stony Brook baseball team on Sunday in the 8-5 loss to Binghamton at the Bearcat Sports Complex in the series finale.

Despite the loss, the Seawolves (23-19, 9-9 AE) won the series after sweeping both games of the doubleheader on Saturday.

Turning Point
Binghamton's Jason Agresti' three-run home run in the fifth inning highlighted a five-run inning for the Bearcats (11-25-1, 8-10 AE) and overcome an early 3-0 deficit.

Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"Whereas yesterday's timely hitting and solid pitching led to our doubleheader sweep and guaranteed a series win, both of those areas were lacking today which led to our disappointing loss today."

Notes/Stats
  • Sophomore SS Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.) had two hits on Sunday now has 18 multi-hit games of the season.
  • Sophomore 1B Chris Hamilton (Schenectady, N.Y.) collected three hits on Sunday for his fifth multi-hit game of the season.
  • Hamilton blasted his third home run of the season and fourth of his career in the fourth inning on Sunday.
