ORONO, Maine – The Stony Brook baseball team, the No. 4 seed, fell 2-0 to top-seeded Hartford on Thursday morning in the 2018 America East Conference Championship at Mahaney Diamond.
The Seawolves' (30-24, 12-12 AE) now drop to the loser's bracket of the tournament and will play at 2:30 p.m. on Friday against either Maine or UAlbany. The Hawks (24-29, 16-8 AE) advance in the winner's bracket and will play at 11 a.m. on Friday against UMass Lowell.
Turning Point
Both of Hartford's runs scored on two-out hits. Their first run came in the second inning, while the second run crossed the plate in the sixth inning.

"Timely hitting is always a huge component to winning especially close games like today and we didn't capitalize when we had our opportunities. However, we fought right to the final out and that's the type of effort and resiliency we'll need to come through the rest of the tournament."
Notes/Stats
- Sophomore SS Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.) recorded his 74th and 75th hits of the season with a single in the first inning and a single in the sixth. His 75 hits move him into eighth place on Stony Brook's single season list.
- Grande's two hits on Thursday also marks his 21st multi-hit game of the season.
- Senior 3B Bobby Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) singled in the 9th inning for his 199th career hit.
- Senior LHP Teddy Rodliff (Quincy, Ma.) pitched one inning in relief on Thursday for his 77th career appearance.
