BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Daniel Zamora, a former Stony Brook baseball pitcher, has been selected as a Class AA All-Star as a member of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies of the New York Mets' organization, it was announced last week.
Zamora, a left-handed pitcher for the Seawolves from 2013-15, leads the Rumble Ponies with in appearances with 25 and holds with eight. The La Puente, Calif., native owns a 3.48 ERA in 33.2 innings of work to go with 48 strikeouts.
During his Stony Brook career, Zamora won nine games in just two fulls seasons and was named first team All-America East Conference in 2015 on his way to leading the Seawolves to both a league regular season and tournament championships. He was selected in the 40th round of the MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2015 and then traded to the Mets organization this past off season.
The 2018 Eastern League All-Star Classic will take place on July 11 in Trenton, New Jersey. Zamora, along with fellow Binghamton teammates Tim Tebow, Levi Michael, Nabil Crismatt and Patrick Mazeika, will represent the Eastern Division.
