AKRON, OHIO– The Stony Brook volleyball team was defeated by Maryland and Akron in a pair of matches at the Akron Tournament. The Seawolves fell in four sets to the Terps (25-17, 19-25, 21-25, 21-25) and in three to Akron (24-26, 23-25, 19-25).
Coach Belzung's Reaction
"We had opportunities to put pressure on a physical Maryland team and couldn't put it together. Out first contact didn't allow us to consistently get our middles in a rhythm which put too much pressure on our pins, who Maryland eventually got a beat on defensively."
"We are working through finding our identity as a team this weekend. Akron put pressure on us, and we struggled to get into any offensive rhythm. We have a quick turnaround to play a gritty Canisius team tomorrow. We will have to come ready to compete and make adjustments."
