Men’s Cross Country Receives Votes in National Coaches’ Poll

NEW ORLEANS, LA- The Stony Brook men's cross country team received votes for the first time in program history in the NCAA Division 1 National Coaches' Poll. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released the results Tuesday afternoon.

The Seawolves are also ranked third in the Northeast Region, right behind Syracuse and Iona.

"Receiving votes in the National Poll for the first time in the program's history is exciting. It's a reward for what the guys accomplished last year in the fall and recognition of their improvement on the track during the indoor and outdoor seasons. This moment also belongs to the many athletes that have come through the program over the years, their dedication to making the program successful laid the ground work for this ranking," said head coach Andy Ronan.

"It is however important that we keep things in perspective, this is a new season and our focus has to be on getting better each week, so that we can be ready to live up to these expectations when it counts during the championship phase of the season, which starts on October 27th with the America East Championships," continued Ronan.
