ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook women's soccer team battled to a tie with UAlbany, 3-3, at Casey Stadium Thursday night. The Seawolves fought back in the second half to tie things up in the 81st minute and force extra time. Stony Brook is now 6-5-1, 1-0-1 in the America East, while UAlbany moves to 6-4-2, 0-0-1 in the league.

Faherty's Reaction
"Tonight was a battle - both physically and tactically - and credit to Albany for making it such a difficult game," said head coach Brendan Faherty. "To come back from two goals down twice in the second half says a lot about the character of our student-athletes. There are a lot of positives we can take from this game, but Albany also exposed some areas in our game that we need to develop more.

"We are looking forward to playing our next two matches at LaValle and hopefully becoming a better team on both sides of the ball as America East play continues."

Highlights
- UAlbany got out to a strong start, putting away a goal in the 2nd minute and another in the 7th to make it a 2-0 lead early on.
- Sophomore Alyssa Francese (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) was tripped up in the box and awarded a penalty kick for the third straight game. Francese had connected on all four of her previous attempts this season. Her initial shot was denied, but saved right back to her and she buried the rebound to get the Seawolves on the board in the 60th minute.
- The Great Danes returned the lead to two goals, connecting again in the 69th minute.
- Francese responded for Stony Brook in the 79th minute when she spun around her defender inside the box, forcing the goalie out of position, and sent her shot to the right side of the net.
- Sophomore Chelsie DePonte (Honolulu, Hawaii) evened the game just two minutes later as she created space for an open look at the goal, striking on a cross from just outside the box.
