STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook men's basketball team goes for win number five in America East play this season and the team's seventh in a row on Wednesday night, taking on Albany at SEFCU Arena in the first of two meetings between the SUNY rivals.
Â
SophomoreÂ
Elijah Olaniyi (Newark, N.J.)Â led the Seawolves with 14 points as the team rallied from an 18-point deficit on Saturday afternoon to improve to 4-0 in conference play. The Seawolves scored 47 of their 64 points in the final 20 minutes, shooting 53 percent from the field and 47 percent from deep during the period.
Â
THE OPPONENT
Albany enters Wednesday night's contest 0-4 in America East play after an overtime decision went against them in Baltimore on Saturday afternoon against UMBC. After a steal and bucket sent the game to overtime, the Retrievers drained a corner three with nine seconds left to go up one and Albany didn't get a shot off on the final possession. Cameron Healy tied a career high with 24 points, while Rayshawn Miller added 10.
Â
Ahmad Clark enters as one of the best scoring guards in the America East, averaging 17.6 points per game while dishing just over four assists per night. Healy is Albany's other double-digit scorer, averaging 16 points per contest. Albany enters Tuesday's action 37th in the country in free throw percentage, shooting 75.1 percent from the charity stripe. Cameron Healy is 24th in the nation, making 61 total 3's.
Â
THE SERIES
Albany has won 43 of the overall 75 meetings between the two schools in a series that dates back to the 1967-68 season. Stony Brook owns a 24-22 advantage in the Division I series, including a win in the 2018 America East Quarterfinals at Albany last season.

During the week, coaches in colleges and high schools across the nation will wear sneakers with their suits during games to raise awareness for Coaches vs. Cancer and the fight against cancer. Since its inception, the campaign has raised over $115 million.
Â
COMEBACK KIDS
After Stony Brook's 18-point comeback at Maine on Saturday afternoon, the Seawolves have now come from behind three times this season when trailing by 10 or more points in the second half. The only other team to have come back three or more times when down by ten or more is Bucknell.
Â
CAN'T SPELL "ELITE" WITHOUT "ELI"
Coming off the Christmas break with three such games in his previous eight outings, sophomoreÂ
Elijah Olaniyi (Newark, N.J.)Â has scored in double figures in each of the last five games. Over this five-game stretch, the Newark, N.J. native is averaging 12.8 points per game, along with 5.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals per night while shooting .477 from the field.
Â
DROPPING DIMES
SeniorÂ
Jaron Cornish (Abaco, Bahamas)Â recorded the team's first 10-assist performance since 2013 on Saturday, dishing out 10 in the team's win against Maine. Nine of these came in the second half while four different Seawolves recorded eight or more points in the period. He is the third player in the America East to accomplish the feat this season and is the only one to do it in conference play during the 2018-19 campaign. Abaco's Own currently leads the league in Assist/Turnover Ratio (2.0) and is third in assists per contest (3.7).
Â
ROAD-FLOOR… ADVANTAGE?
Stony Brook has played 12 of its 19 games away from home during the 2018-19 campaign and won 10 of them. This includes nine true road wins after the team's victory in Bangor over the weekend, which leads the country. If the Seawolves win at Albany, it will be the team's fifth consecutive victory, tying it with four other teams for the longest active streak in the country.
Â
DEFENSIVELY DOMINANT
Four games into the conference season, the Seawolves lead the America East in five defensive categories, including overall KenPom defensive efficiency. The Seawolves currently lead the league in points against, allowing just 53.5 points per game in conference play, which is just under a point more than Vermont. Those two teams are the only ones surrendering less than 60 points per game in league play this season.
Â
LET'S GO STREAKING
For the second time this season, Stony Brook has accumulated six consecutive wins thanks to a 4-0 start in America East play and, most recently, coming from behind to defeat Maine in Bangor on Saturday afternoon. In addition to its current streak, Stony Brook has won six of its last seven America East regular season contests and five in a row on the road. The team's six-game winning streak is just outside the top 10 for the longest active streaks in the country.
Â
NO, NO, NO-TCHERE

He is also second in the country in block percentage, swatting 16.9 percent of opponent's two-point shots while he's on the floor.
