HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women's basketball team successfully won the Battle of Long Island for the third year in a row by way of an 81-38 route of Hofstra on Wednesday night at the David S. Mack Sports Complex.

Three Seawolves (3-0, 0-0 AE) reached double-figures in scoring to help the team to its 43-point triumph – the program's largest margin of victory since 2017.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Graduate student G Kaela Hilaire (Queens, N.Y.) led Stony Brook with 16 points and was a perfect 4-4 from beyond the arc.
- She also added in nine assists, three rebounds, two steals and one block.
- Junior G Victoria Johnson (Camden, Miss.) tallied 12 points and four rebounds.
- Graduate student F Cheyenne Clark (Deptford, N.J.) also notched 10 points and pulled down six rebounds.
- Clark along with junior F McKenzie Bushee (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had a team-high six boards.
- Bushee and redshirt junior F Oksana Gouchie-Provencher (Montreal, Canada) led all players on the court with three blocks each and freshman G Gigi Gonzalez (Miramar, Fla.) paced both teams with three steals.

- Stony Brook's most productive quarter came in the third, outscoring Hofstra, 24-5.
- In that frame, the squad shot 71.4 percent (10-14).
- Freshman G Leah Burden (Westbury, N.Y.) saw her first-ever collegiate action while senior F Kyra Dixon (Lawrenceville, Ga.)and sophomore G Courtney Furr (Elkridge, Md.) played their first minutes this season.
- Stony Brook shot 55.2 percent from the floor, including 60 percent from three.
- The Seawolves led the game for 37:02 minutes
- The team notched 22 points off of Hofstra turnovers, 42 in the paint and 39 from the bench.
- Stony Brook now 4-6 in the all-time series with the Pride.
- Head coach Caroline McCombs is now just 10 wins away from her 100th at Stony Brook.
