Seniors Shine in Regular-Season Finale

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook volleyball team ran out to a 2-0 match lead but fell to New Hampshire in an intense five-set battle (25-20, 25-20, 16-25, 23-25, 19-21) on Friday night at Pritchard Gym.
 
At 9-16 (4-6 AE) on the season, the Seawolves clinched the No. 4 seed in the America East Tournament and will face No. 1 UAlbany on Friday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Great Danes' home gym.
 
Coach Belzung's Reaction
"Most importantly, thank you to our six seniors. Their impact has forever changed Stony Brook Volleyball and I am thankful to have gotten to be their coach the past three years. The foundation they have laid will be felt for years to come. In addition, thank you to their support systems who came out in full force tonight. While tonight was a tough battle, I thought we had a great week of practice and we are looking forward to the America East Championship next weekend. We are prepared to peak at the right time."

By the Numbers vs. New Hampshire
- Stony Brook had heavy contributions from its six seniors, as LeAnne Sakowicz (Wauconda, Ill.) put up a season-high 62 assists as well as four kills, seven digs and one block assist.
- Liz Pulver (Temecula, Calif.) led the Seawolves offense with 15 kills and also recorded five digs and a pair of block assists.
- Maria Poole (Stavanger, Norway) hit an astounding .464 percent, notching 14 kills and also added in two digs and one block assist.
- Kendra Harlow (St. James, N.Y.) reached double-digits in kills, recording 12 along with two digs, two block assists and one solo stop.
- Jordan Gels (Lewis Center, Ohio) contributed nine kills and five digs.
- Kardasia Hitchcock (Alexander City, Ala.) dug up 14 balls and claimed two assists and one service ace.
- Redshirt freshman Enitan Omolewa (Laurel, Md.) was the fourth Seawolf to garner 10-plus kills (13) and was also big on the defensive end with two solo blocks and a pair of block assists.
- Junior Kiani Kerstetter (Cardiff, Calif.) led the defensive efforts with 27 digs.

- Stony Brook is now 16-25 all-time against New Hampshire.
- Stony Brook had the advantage in kills (73-61), assists (68-59) and digs (94-91).
- Omolewa's kill tally (13) is a new career high.
- Kerstetter is now fifth all-time in Stony Brook history in career digs (1,379).
