White and Turner Both Gain Over 100 Rushing Yards in Loss at Delaware

NEWARK, DE. – Redshirt senior RB Isaiah White (Gordon Heights, N.Y./Longwood) rushed for 188 yards and true freshman RB Jadon Turner (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) gained 101 yards on the ground in his first career game, but the Stony Brook football team fell at Delaware on Saturday afternoon in the CAA Football game at Delaware Stadium.  
 
Turner also scored his first career touchdown on a 41-yard run in the second quarter for the Seawolves (5-6, 2-5 CAA Football).
 
SCORING
  • Delaware struck first on the first drive of the game with a 33-yard interception return by LB Johnny Buchanan with 13:38 left in the opening quarter. The PAT by K Jake Roth was good.
  • Stony Brook got on the board in the second quarter when K Nick Courtney nailed a 24-yard field goal with 8:59 left in the half. The drive was 12 plays for 65 yards and took 5:57 off the clock. The drive started when DB Gavin Heslop blocked a Delaware field goal attempt.
  • The Seawolves took the lead when RB Jadon Turner scampered 41 yards for the touchdown with 5:43 left in the second quarter. The PAT by K Nick Courtney was good. The drive was three plays for 56 yards and took 1:12 off the clock.
  • The Blue Hens knotted it up with a 23-yard field goal by K Jake Roth with 0:08 left in the second quarter. The drive was 10 plays for 71 yards and took 5:26 off the clock.
  • Delaware retook the lead when RB Will Knight scored on a 21-yard run with 10:18 left in the fourth quarter. The PAT by K Jake Roth was good. The drive was nine plays for 55 yards and took 3:22 off the clock.
THE NUMBERS
  • Stony Brook gained 341 yards of total offense on 59 plays. Delaware had 250 yards of total offense on 54 plays.
  • The Seawolves had the ball for 32:16 minutes of the game.
  • PASSING: Stony Brook: 5-11-2 for 45 yards. Delaware: 6-11-0 for 87 yards.
  • RUSHING: Stony Brook: 48 carries for 296 yards, one touchdown Delaware: 43 carries for 163 yards, one touchdown.
  • QB Tyquell Fields had 45 passing yards.
  • WR Nick Anderson had two catches for 16 yards.  
  • RB Isaiah White collected 188 rushing yards on 26 carries, RB Jadon Turner collected 101 rushing yards on 13 carries with one touchdown.
  • DB Augie Contressa recorded eight total tackles with a 0.5 sack and 1.5 TFLs.
NOTES
  • DB Gavin Heslop blocked a Delaware FG attempt in the second quarter for his block of the season. He also blocked a Richmond FG attempt two weeks ago.
  • K Nick Courtney made his 16th career field goal on Saturday and the 10th of the season with his kick in the second quarter. He now sits tied for fifth place on Stony Brook's single-season list for field goals made and sixth-place on the Seawolves' career list.
  • RB Jadon Turner scored his first career touchdown on a 41-yard rush in the second quarter. The score by the true freshman marked the ninth time this season a Seawolf has scored their first career touchdown.
  • RB Jadon Turner rushed for 101 Yards for his first career 100-plus yard game. He also became the first true freshman to rush for at least 100 yards since teammate Isaiah White accomplished the feat against Central Connecticut in 2015.
  • RB Isaiah White reached 100-plus rushing yards in the first half alone and finished with ??? yards. It marks his fourth 100-plus yard rushing game of the season and the fifth of his career.
  • RB Isaiah White's 188 rushing yards are a career-high, besting his previous high of 131 yards gained against Wagner earlier this season.
  • Stony Brook had multiple 100-yard rushers for the second time this season.
  • OL Mason Zimmerman extended his consecutive starts streak to 42 games, while DB Gavin Heslop extended his streak to 36 straight games. DB Augie Contressa extended his consecutive start streak to 23 games. DL Casey Williams extended his streak to 19, while OL Kyle Nunez and DL Brandon Lopez added to their streak to make it 17 straight starts now.
  • WR Jahquel Webb started on Saturday for the first time in his career. He is the 17th Seawolf to start for the first time this season.
  • RB Jadon Turner and RB Tahshawn Brinson made their first appearance in a game to become the 13th and 14th different Seawolves to made their collegiate debut this season. 
  • Delaware won the toss and deferred to the second half.
  • Captains for Saturday's game were RB Isaiah White and DB Gavin Heslop.
