CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Redshirt junior QB
Tyquell Fields (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) of the Stony Brook football team has been named to the 2019 College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) midseason watch list for the CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Award, it was announced on Tuesday.
Fields, through the first nine games of the season, is averaging 247.6 yards of total offense per game and has accounted for 15 total touchdowns - 11 passing and four running - along with a 141.37 passing efficiency. He leads the FCS is passing yards per completion at 17.84 and has thrown for 1,962 yards this season.
During the season, Fields has successfully engineered three game-winning or game-tying fourth-quarter drives. The first came at Rhode Island on Sept. 28 to defeat the Rams, the second came at home against No. 2 James Madison on Oct. 5 to send the game to overtime, and the third was at No. 5 Villanova on Oct. 26 to defeat the Wildcats.
Fields is one of 34 players from the FCS level on the award's watch list. The award winner will be announced on January 15, 2020.
