STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Senior Day Saturday will descend on Island Federal Arena as the Stony Brook men's basketball team will honor its lone senior, Jaron Cornish (Abaco, Bahamas), and then look to get back to its winning ways as the Seawolves welcome Maine in the penultimate regular season home game of the 2018-19 campaign.

Redshirt-junior Akwasi Yeboah (Chigwell, England) recorded 22 points and hauled in 12 rebounds against UAlbany on Thursday night, but Stony Brook fell to its rival 74-70 at Island Federal Arena to snap the team's four-game winning streak. Redshirt-sophomore Andrew Garcia (Harlem, N.Y.) chipped in 14 points as well on the night.

THE OPPONENT
Maine enters its final long road trip of the 2018-19 campaign losers of four in a row, including a nine-point loss to Albany most recently on February 17 by a final of 63-54. They sit 2.5 games clear of a playoff spot with four games to play, currently at 3-9. They are one game behind Binghamton and two back of Albany. Andrew Fleming led three scorers in double figures for the Black Bears on Sunday, scoring 14 on 6-of-13 shooting. Isaiah White added 11 points while Dennis Ashley chipped in 10.

On the season, three scorers are averaging double figures, with White leading the way at 14 per night. Fleming is right behind him at a 13.9 per game clip and Sergio El Darwich is scoring 11.5 per game. Fleming is inside the Top 15 nationally, playing over 37 minutes per game for head coach Richard Barron. The team is also inside the Top 50 in steals in the NCAA, with 206 on the season.

THE SERIES
This will be the 42nd all-time meeting between the Seawolves and Black Bears in a series that dates back to the 1970-71 season. Stony Brook has won each of the last 17 meetings between the schools, including the Seawolves' 64-61 win in Bangor this year.

A DIME A DOZEN
Senior Jaron Cornish (Abaco, Bahamas) will be honored as the team's only senior on Saturday night and will also etch himself into the Stony Brook record books when takes his jersey off for the final time. Cornish is currently tied for fifth in Stony Brook's Division I era, dishing 3.1 assists per game over his 54-game career. This season he is averaging 3.4 per night, which is also good for eighth in the Seawolves' 20-year D1 history. Along with his three assists against UMass Lowell, he became the ninth Stony Brook player in the last 20 years to score 30 points, making 11 of his 18 shots in the process.

DOUBLE THE EXCELLENCE
It's been quite the fortnight for redshirt-junior Akwasi Yeboah (Chigwell, England), as he has hauled in 12 or more rebounds in two of his last three games going back to February 9 against UMass Lowell. He partnered those efforts with 13 points against the River Hawks and, most recently, 22 points against UAlbany. The England native is close to averaging a double double in league play, scoring 14.8 per night and grabbing just under nine rebounds per game at 8.8.

CAN'T WIN IF YOU DON'T SCORE
That is the mantra that Stony Brook has abided by in conference play, holding all but two teams under 40 percent shooting. Going back before the New Year, the Seawolves have held 12 of the team's last 14 opponents under that threshold. This has seen a rise in the defensive rankings for the Seawolves, as Stony Brook has climbed to ninth in the country in opponent's FG% with team's shooting 38.7 percent against Stony Brook.

KARDIAC KIDS
The Seawolves have been able to win the close ones this season en route to the team's winningest season under Jeff Boals. After Saturday's two-point victory against New Hampshire, Stony Brook has now won seven games by four points or less, going 7-2 in those contests. Stony Brook is 11-3 in games that they have been decided by seven points or less and have only had four games decided by 15 points or more this season, with three of those coming against Division I competition.

HOME COURT IS KEY
With a win, Stony Brook will clinch a home game in the 2019 America East playoffs. The Seawolves have hosted six home games since the format changed in the 2014-15 season, going 5-1 in home playoff games. Clinching home games has been key in the America East, as conference teams have gone 23-5 at home since the format changed.
