HAMMOND, La. – The Stony Brook baseball team fell in the rubber match of its three-game set with Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday afternoon, ending up on the wrong side of an 8-0 scoreline.
Freshman
Nick DeGennaro (Toms River, N.J.) continued his solid start out of the bullpen for Stony Brook, going 3.2 innings in relief today, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out three.
SENK'S REACTION
"SELU did everything well today especially their pitching and defense. That coupled with them jumping out to an early lead made for a very rough afternoon for us."
SCORING SUMMARY
- The Lions got started with three-straight one out hits in the second, jumping out 4-0 thanks to a pair of RBI singles and a two-run double to cap the rally.
- SLU scored back to back runs with no hits in the fourth, with Stony Brook hitting a batter with the bases loaded, then getting a fly ball to center that scored another run. This made the lead 6-0 Lions.
- Back to back hits in the eighth extended the lead further, with a single to left and double to center each scoring a run.
NOTES
- DeGennaro has now allowed two earned runs in seven innings of relief this season after his 3.2 innings today.
- Junior Chris Hamilton (Schenectady, N.Y.) finishes the weekend 5-for-10 after a 1-for-3 outing today. He has hit safely in four consecutive games.
- After going 1-for-3 today, freshman Evan Giordano (Sewell, N.J.) has hits in all three of his starts at the beginning of his Seawolves career.
- Freshman Ben Fero (Trumbull, Conn.) has three scoreless innings of relief to his name in a Stony Brook uniform after throwing two this afternoon.
