HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Junior attacker
Tom Haun's (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) five goals, including the game-winner with 1:20 left in the fourth quarter, help lift the Stony Brook men's lacrosse team to a 11-10 hard fought victory over Hofstra at James M. Shuart Stadium on Tuesday night.
Haun's five goals were a career-high, while junior goalkeeper
Michael Bollinger (Holbrook, N.Y.) recorded nine big saves for the Seawolves (2-1). Sophomore midfielder

Tom Dugan (Commack, N.Y.) both added a pair of goals each and sophomore midfielder
Mike McCannell (Orangeville, Ontario) tallied a career-best four assists in the victory over the Pride (2-2).
Stony Brook held a 5-4 halftime lead and an 8-6 lead entering the fourth quarter before they built as much as a three-goal advantage. Hofstra was able to tie the score 10-10 before Haun notched what would be the game-winner.

"This was a great win for our guys. I'm very proud of them. This was a hard fought game. I thought Hofstra played extremely hard. Both teams just played their hearts out. It was a great college lacrosse game in early February and both teams competed hard."
HIGHLIGHTS
- For the third straight game, Stony Brook's opponent struck first, but for the second straight game the Seawolves rebounded to hold the lead at halftime.
- The 1-0 lead by Hofstra was the only time in the game Stony Brook trailed.
- The Seawolves' held a 5-4 advantage at the break after first half goals from junior midfielder Tom Dugan and two goals each from Tom Haun and Patrick Kaschalk.
- Stony Brook led 8-7 after three quarters with goals in the quarter from Haun, Dugan and sophomore attacker Jack Walsh (Miller Place, N.Y.).
- Junior midfielder Connor Grippe (Setauket, N.Y.) tallied a fourth quarter goal that put the Seawolves up 9-7 and Haun added his fourth of the night to make it 10-7 with 9:09 left in the fourth.
- Haun's fifth and final goal broke a 10-10 tie and snapped Hofstra momentum of three straight goals.
NOTES
- Stony Brook's win improved the all-time record against Hofstra to 4-6. It marked the Seawolves' first win over the Pride since 2016 and the first win at Hofstra since 2007.
- Senior Ryland Rees (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) made his season debut on Tuesday at Hofstra. He missed the first two games with a lower body injury.
- Junior midfielder Tom Dugan scored his first goal of the season in the first quarter and added his second late in the third quarter. It marks his first career multi-goal game. He now has three goals in his career.
- Junior attacker Tom Haun netted his 50th, 51st, 52nd, 53rd and 54th career goals on Tuesday to set a career-high. He now has nine goals this season. It marks also his 18th multi-goal game of his career and his eighth career hat trick.
- Sophomore midfielder Patrick Kaschalk scored his 19th and 20th career goals on Tuesday. He has three this season and his fourth career multi-goal game.
- Sophomore midfielder Mike McCannell collected four assists on Tuesday to mark his career-high for assists. It also marks his sixth career multi-point game and it is his career-high with four points.
- Freshman A/M Matt Anderson (Burlington, Ontario) assisted on Kaschalk's second goal of the game to record his first career point.
- Sophomore attacker Jack Walsh netted his 10th career goal with his third quarter tally.
- Junior midfielder Connor Grippe tallied his 16th career goal with his fourth quarter goal on Tuesday.
- Junior goalkeeper Michael Bollinger earned his 11th career victory and extended his career record to 11-10.
