STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook men's basketball team continues the chase for first place in the America East on Saturday night, taking on the River Hawks of UMass Lowell at 7 p.m. at Island Federal Arena on Stony Brook Children's Hospital night.

Following a pregame ceremony with children from the newly-opened Children's Hospital, the Seawolves look to continue their hot shooting from the last two games in which they have combined for 171 points. They are coming off a performance with 13 3-pointers on Wednesday night, defeating Binghamton 85-59 in Vestal, N.Y. to complete the season sweep of the Bearcats.

The team will also be wearing specially designed jerseys for the team, with the children's names on the back of the uniforms and dedication patches on the front.

THE OPPONENT
UMass Lowell snapped a short two-game slide on Wednesday night, defeating New Hampshire 72-62 at the Costello Athletic Center in Lowell, Mass.

The River Hawks used a 25-7 first half run to build a 12-point advantage at the halftime horn and they kept the Wildcats at bay the rest of the way. Christian Lutete led the way with a game-high 18 points, while Shawn Jones came off the bench to hit seven of his 10 shots for a 17-point output.

Lutete leads the River Hawks in the scoring department, averaging 18.8 points per contest and also hauling in eight boards a night. Obadiah Noel (15.3), Josh Gantz (11.2) and Alex Rivera (10.6) are all scoring in double figures as well.

THE SERIES
Stony Brook has won 14 of the 19 overall meetings between the schools, including 10 of the 11 matchups while both teams are Division I. Akwasi Yeboah (Chigwell, England) led all scorers with 19 points, while Miles Latimer (Fairfax, Va.) added 16 and Elijah Olaniyi (Newark, N.J.) chipped in 11 in the team's 75-63 victory in the matchup in Lowell, Mass. earlier
this season.

THRIVING FROM THREE
The Seawolves hit 13 shots from outside the arc, one shy of the program set against Binghamton in 2012, in the team's win against the Bearcats on Wednesday night. Freshman Miles Latimer (Fairfax, Va.) hit a season-high five, while sophomore Elijah Olaniyi (Newark, N.J.) and senior Jaron Cornish (Abaco, Bahamas) each chipped in a trio of triples. As a team, Stony Brook has made 23 of its 52 attempts in the last two games, while holding the opposition to 15 for 60 from the outside.

OFFENSIVE ONSLAUGHT
After scoring 49 points at UMBC, the team's lowest scoring output in nearly three seasons, Stony Brook's offense has come back with a vengeance, scoring 171 points in the last 80 minutes of game play. This is the first time under Jeff Boals that the Seawolves have accomplished the feat and the last time they did was the 2015-16 season, when the Seawolves eclipsed 80 points on three straight occasions.

TWENTY-PIECE
Sophomore Elijah Olaniyi (Newark, N.J.) scored 20 of his career-high 28 in the first half of Stony Brook's win over Hartford on Saturday night. This is the second time a Seawolves player has hit the 20-point mark in a half this season, as Akwasi Yeboah (Chigwell, England) scored 20 in the second half of the team's win at Manhattan. The 28 points are the most by a Seawolves player this season and the most since Yeboah poured in 30 at Columbia in December 2017.

SEEING DOUBLE
Redshirt-sophomore Andrew Garcia (Harlem, N.Y.) and redshirt-junior Akwasi Yeboah (Chigwell, England) each recorded double doubles last Saturday night, the second time this year that the combination have teamed up for at least 10 points and 10 rebounds in a game. For Garcia, it was the first of his career against a Division I opponent, finishing the night with 13 points and 11 boards. Yeboah is close to averaging a double double in his last five appearances, scoring 14.0 points and hauling in 9.8 rebounds per game. He had 16 and 14, respectively, on Saturday night against Hartford.

HEADED TO THE RECORD BOOKS
Redshirt-junior Akwasi Yeboah (Chigwell, England) is on pace to rewrite the junior records at Stony Brook, currently heading towards the most prolific scoring season by a junior in Seawolves history, eclipsing Jameel Warney's 16.4 points per game in his third season. His current clip, 16.8 per night, is just under a pace that has rarely been seen in the Division I era. Only one player has averaged 17 points a game since 2003. He has also recorded seven double doubles, which is tied for fifth-most by a Seawolves player in the Division I era.

COLD OUTSIDE = COLD INSIDE
As the winter continues, Stony Brook's defense has also been keeping its opponents cold from the floor in conference play. Seawolves opposition are shooting 40.7 percent from two-point range and 26.6 from 3-point land. Both marks lead the America East.

UP NEXT
After the bye, the Seawolves hit the road to Durham, N.H. to take on the Wildcats of New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon.
