STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook baseball team enters America East play this weekend, bringing in the Retrievers of UMBC for a three-game set starting with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon and a single-game on Sunday.

The Seawolves are coming off a split of the team's midweek games, with the most recent one being a 9-3 win over LIU Brooklyn on Wednesday at Joe Nathan Field. Junior
Chris Hamilton (Schenectady, N.Y.) recorded three RBI on the afternoon to help Stony Brook snap a five-game skid.

THE OPPONENT
The Retrievers come in after winning two of three against Delaware State, winning the first two in Columbia, Md. before falling in the series finale.

Christian Torres had a 6-for-9 weekend at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 in the series opener, while adding four RBI and a pair of runs scored for the Retrievers.

Torres is the team's leading hitter, batting at a .353 clip this season with a home run and 10 RBI on the year. Terrence Pinkston and Blaze O'Saben are both close to the .300 mark, hitting .297 and .294, respectively.

Aaron Husson is the team's best starter so far this season, recording a 4.70 ERA in a pair of starts this season. Nick Trabacchi has made three starts during the 2019 campaign, entering the weekend with a 5.11 ERA.

THE SERIES
The Seawolves have won 52 of the 67 all-time meetings between the two schools, but the Retrievers won the series last season, sweeping the Saturday doubleheader before Stony Brook took the finale with an 11-6 scoreline.

A GRAND(E) STRETCH
Junior
Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.) has started to swing the bat very well, currently riding a five-game hitting streak and is has recorded hits in seven of his last 12 at-bats. Three of his seven hits have gone for extra bases and he has also scored four runs. Entering the first conference weekend, the junior has a .440 on-base percentage and is hitting .333 from the leadoff spot.

FINDING A GROOVE
Junior
Chris Hamilton (Schenectady, N.Y.) has produced a lot in his two home games, driving in five runs against Iona and LIU Brooklyn this week. He hit 3-for-7 during the two midweek contests and has drawn a walk in three consecutive contests, raising his on-base percentage to .396 on the year. Hamilton is also riding a four-game streak in which he has driven in a run.

MAKE ME LIKE MIKE
Junior
Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.) earned America East Player of the Week honors after recording an eight-hit weekend in Miami, Fla. against Florida International. This included a game-winning home run with two outs and two strikes in the top of the ninth to put the Seawolves up 7-6 on Saturday. He also added a home run in Friday's contest and a three-hit output on Sunday of the opening weekend.

PICKING UP WHERE WE LEFT OFF
The Stony Brook Seawolves were picked second in the 2019 America East preseason coaches poll, receiving two of the seven available first-place votes. Stony Brook sits behind Hartford, who received the other five, in the poll, starting the season as the two ended last year with the teams meeting in the Championship Round of the 2018 America East Baseball Championships.

ON DECK
The Seawolves' homestand continues next weekend when they welcome Sacred Heart for three games before heading on the road Sunday to Bridgeport for the fourth and final game with the Pioneers.
