STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook baseball team finished off a three-game sweep of UMBC on Sunday afternoon, holding off a Retreiver comeback to win the finale 8-5.

Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.) had his second four-RBI game of the weekend, recording a pair of hits and driving in four runs to help cushion senior
Bret Clarke (Royersford, Pa.) on the hill, who went 6.1 innings and allowed just one run.

SCORING SUMMARY
- Senior Brandon Alamo (Artesia, Calif.) drove in the first of his two runs on a grounder to first, allowing the Seawolves to get on the board first.
- After UMBC knotted the game with a triple to right-center, Stony Brook rattled off seven unanswered to build an 8-1 lead. Wilson had a two-run triple in the third and two-run single in the sixth to drive in four of the seven.
- Alamo put a single in the hole on the right side and junior Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.) had a two-run double to total the seven unanswered.
- The Retrievers rallied with four in the eighth off a bases-loaded walk and pair of run-scoring singles but would only be able to cut the lead to five.
STATS AND NOTES
- Wilson finished the weekend with nine of Stony Brook's 21 RBI, hitting .545 in the process.
- Grande led the Seawolves at the plate on the weekend, however, batting .583 with seven hits in 12 at bats. He chipped in four doubles, three RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
- This is Stony Brook's first three-game sweep against a conference opponent since they took all three from Maine in April of 2017.
- Stony Brook's last conference opening three-game sweep was in 2014, when they took down UAlbany in all three contests.
- Junior Sam Turcotte (Toronto, Ontario) finished the weekend throwing 3.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, earning a win and a save.
- The top three in the Seawolves batting order this weekend (Grande, Hamilton, Wilson) combined to hit .543 on the weekend with six doubles and 6 RBI.
