Seawolves Bats Erupt for Five Homers in Win at Army

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook baseball team blasted five home runs en route to its fifth consecutive win, defeating Army West Point 13-4 on Tuesday afternoon in West Point, N.Y. at Doubleday Field.

Junior Chris Hamilton (Schenectady, N.Y.) sent both of his hits out of the ballpark, while senior Brandon Janofsky (Jackson, N.J.), freshman Cole Durkan (Jefferson, Mass.) and senior Michael Russell (Staten Island, N.Y.) all added long balls to help Stony Brook match its season high in runs in the 15th game of the season.

SENK'S REACTION
"We played a terrific game today. We hit for average and power, made a lot of great pitches when they counted and fielded at a high level. The guys should be very proud of their performance. It was an extremely well deserved win"

SCORING SUMMARY
  • Stony Brook started with five in the second thanks to Janofsky's three-run blast and Hamilton's two-run shot.
  • The Seawolves extended the lead to seven in the third as Russell and Janofsky both drove base hits to the outfield for RBI singles.
  • After Army put two of their own up in the bottom half, Durkan deposited a three-run home run over the right-field wall to make it 10-2 halfway through the game.
  • Russell added his home run in the seventh and Hamilton sent his second of the afternoon over the wall in the eighth to extend the lead to 12-2.
  • Freshman Johnny Decker (Coeymans Hollow, N.Y.) added a RBI groundout to finish the Stony Brook scoring.
