STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook baseball team used offense to extend its winning streak to six, defeating Sacred Heart 12-9 in the first of three games in the non-conference set.
Juniors
Chris Hamilton (Schenectady, N.Y.) and
Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.) each chipped in multi-hit outings and fellow junior
Sam Turcotte (Toronto, Ontario) recorded his second win of the season in a 1.2-inning outing in which he did not allow a run.

SCORING SUMMARY
- Wilson is responsible both of the first inning's two runs, driving a RBI single to get the scoring started. He then scored on a passed ball to make it 2-0.
- The Seawolves scored three in the second to extend the lead to five, with junior Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y) drawing a bases-loaded walk, Hamilton sending a high fly ball that dropped into right-center for a fielder's choice and freshman Johnny Decker getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
- Sacred Heart scored seven in the third, scoring runs on two doubles, two singles and a home run to make it 7-5.
- Senior Brandon Janofsky (Jackson, N.J.) and Grande went back to back with RBI hits to tie the proceedings at seven.
- Freshman Brad Hipsley (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) gave Stony Brook the lead in the fourth with a two-run double down the left-field line.
- After Sacred Heart tied it with a home run in the eighth, Decker laced a ball into center that was dropped by the Pioneers' centerfielder and sophomore John Tuccillo (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) grounded a fielder's choice to third to make it 12-9.
STATS AND NOTES
- Stony Brook drew a season-high eight walks and was hit by a season-high five pitches.
- Grande's hit streak increased to 10 games on Friday night with a triple. He's hitting .450 during the streak.
- Wilson now has an eight-game hit streak to his name, with 12 RBI during this time period.
- This is the first time Stony Brook has put up double-figure runs in back to back contests this season.
- The Seawolves offense is averaging 10.5 runs per game over their last four outings.
