STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Entering the eighth inning, the Stony Brook baseball team had been held scoreless on four hits. The Seawolves offense came alive in the eighth, scoring four runs on three hits to extend the team's winning streak to seven after a 4-1 win at Joe Nathan Field.
The pitcher's duel featured a career start for junior
Brian Herrmann (Northport, N.Y.), who struck out a career-high 11 in seven innings, allowing an unearned run on five hits. Junior
Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.) provided the game-winning hit, a flare single to left to score classmate
Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.) and give Stony Brook the lead in its final at-bat.
SENK'S REACTION
"The main story is the outstanding start by
Brian Herrmann. His performance was absolutely terrific. Brian's work along with
Ben Fero's two innings of relief and the offense putting it together in the eighth got us another hard fought victory today"
