STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook baseball team outlasted Binghamton on Sunday morning, earning its third series win in America East play this season with a 6-3 victory in the rubber game of the three-game set between the SUNY schools.

Bret Clarke (Royersford, Pa.) threw a quality start, allowing three earned over seven innings of play to keep Stony Brook ahead and junior
Sam Turcotte (Toronto, Ontario) slammed the door with a two-inning save.

SCORING SUMMARY
- The second inning was the big one for both teams, as seven of the nine runs were scored during the frame.
- Stony Brook started it with four in the top half. Senior Dylan Resk (Ardsley, N.Y.) laced a single to left to give the Seawolves the early lead.
- Back to back RBI doubles put Stony Brook up four, as senior Brandon Janofsky (Jackson, N.J.) and junior Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.) drove two-base hits down the foul line
- It took one swing for Binghamton to cut the lead to one as a three-run home run went over the left-field fence.
- The Seawolves added a pair in the seventh with sophomore John Tuccillo (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) sending a RBI single to left.
- Tuccillo scored on a throwing error by the catcher on his steal of third, allowing him to advance 90 feet to home.
STATS AND NOTES
- With his two-out double, Grande has now reached base safely in 25 consecutive games. He is currently on a nine-game hitting streak, during which he is hitting .513 with six doubles and nine RBI.
- Senior Brandon Alamo (Artesia, Calif.) finished the weekend as the team's leading hitter, driving in five of Stony Brook's 13 runs and hitting at a .556 clip in the three games.
- Turcotte added Sunday's save with a win in Saturday's extra inning contest. It is the second time this season that he has recorded a win and save in the same weekend.
- He threw four scoreless innings in relief, striking out seven and allowing just two hits.
- Stony Brook won its 20th game of the season and has won 17 of its last 21 games and three of its four conference series.
- As a team, Stony Brook is averaging 10 hits per contest in its last nine games after they had 12 today.
