STONY BROOK, N.Y. – After sweeping its last three weekends, the Stony Brook baseball program brings a 6-0 league resume across the Long Island Sound this weekend, ready for three with the preseason favorites in the league, Hartford.
The Seawolves won all three matchups against Maine in their last weekend series, powered by a pitching staff that had a weekend ERA of 2.16. Stony Brook let up three runs in each of the Saturday contests before shutting out the Black Bears 2-0 in the series finale on Sunday.
ABOUT THE HAWKS
Hartford has won four of its last six contests en route to a 9-14 overall record and 4-2 slate in conference play heading into the only regular season matchup between the America East's two top teams in the preseason poll. After a two-win weekend against UMass Lowell, Hartford is coming off a midweek win against Boston College by a 7-4 final line. The team scored three in the first and two in the ninth to aid in the cause.
As a team, the Hawks defense and pitching has been their strong suit, with the team sitting 49
th nationally in fielding percentage. The team's rotation also has two of the most efficient pitchers in the league, with Nicholas Dombkowski and Billy Devito sitting first and third in the America East in strikeout-to-walk ratio.
THE SERIES WITH THE HAWKS

HITS ALL OVER THE YARD
For the seventh time in the last 11 games, the Seawolves eclipsed the 10-hit plateau as the team has found a groove at the plate. They had 15 hits and scored 11 runs in a 11-7 win at Iona on Tuesday night, extending the team's winning streak to four and making it 12 wins in 13 tries.
PLATE DISCIPLINE
The Seawolves started the season with double-figure strikeouts at the plate in seven of their first nine games as the team got off to a 3-6 start. Since then, they have only eclipsed that mark twice and have won 12 of their previous 13. This includes striking out just 13 times total in three games against Sacred Heart and going down by way of the K 11 times in three games in the team's first America East series against UMBC.
