STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Led by the freshman arms of
Nick DeGennaro (Toms River, N.J.) and
Ben Fero (Trumbull, Conn.) who combined for eight shutout innings, the Stony Brook baseball team improved to 10-1 at home in a 4-2 victory over Iona on Tuesday afternoon at Joe Nathan Field.
DeGennaro took a perfect game into the fifth before exiting after that frame and Fero followed it up with three more scoreless innings to help Stony Brook stake a 4-0 advantage.
SENK'S REACTION
"Our pitching and defense was instrumental in today's win led by freshman
Nick DeGennaro's outstanding start and first career victory. Offensively, we swung the bats well including several line drives right at Iona fielders. Overall, it was an efficient, workmanlike performance"
