Pitching Holds Manhattan to Five Hits in Road Loss

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook baseball team was able to get one run back in the ninth inning but not both as the Seawolves were bested by Manhattan 2-1 in Wappingers Falls, N.Y.

Senior Brandon Alamo (Artesia, Calif.) extended his streak of reaching base safely to 32 games while classmate Dylan Resk (Ardsley, N.Y.) drove in his sixth run in the last five contests but the rest of Stony Brook's offense fell short in the loss.

GAME 1 SUMMARY
  • Manhattan broke the scoreless tie in the seventh with a sacrifice fly to left. The Jaspers then doubled the lead the next frame with a RBI single to right.
  • Stony Brook clawed halfway back in the ninth, as Resk's single scored Alamo but the Seawolves production was limited to that.
STATS AND NOTES
  • Alamo has now reached base safely in 32 consecutive games after his 2-for-3 performance today.
  • Resk is hitting .333 (6-for-18) during this five-game stretch in which he has driven in six runs.
  • Redshirt-junior Aaron Glickstein (Dix Hills, N.Y.) threw a scoreless four innings to start the game, allowing two hits and striking out three on 60 pitches.
  • Stony Brook pitching as a whole allowed five hits on the day, tied for the second-lowest total of the season.
