Stony Brook Treks North for Three-Game Set With Maine

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – In its last road conference series of 2019, the Stony Brook baseball team heads to its furthest destination from home as the Seawolves go to Maine for a three-game set with the Black Bears starting Saturday at Mahaney Diamond. Stony Brook is coming off taking two of three from UMBC, including an 11-inning victory in the series finale to continue its stay at the top of the conference.
 
THE OPPONENT
Maine enters the weekend winners of three of its last five, currently sitting on a 11-26 record that includes an even 7-7 resume in the league.
 
The Black Bears were bested in a slugfest series against UAlbany this past weekend in the Capital District, with the Great Danes and Black Bears combining for 54 runs over three games with the hosts winning two of three.
 
At the plate, Joe Bramanti is the team's leading hitter at a .289 average with three homers and 25 RBI on the season. Hernen Sardinas and Danny Casals have combined for 13 homers this season.
 
On the hill, Cody Laweryson has a 2.12 ERA in 10 starts. He has recorded 51 strikeouts and walked just 15 in 46.2 innings. In relief, Trevor DeLaite is the leading hurler, currently holding a 2.63 ERA in 15 apperances.
 
THE SERIES
Stony Brook has won 55 of the 86 overall meetings in a series that dates back to 2002. The Seawolves swept the Black Bears earlier this season at Joe Nathan Field with Stony Brook pitching allowing six runs in the 25 innings of action during the last weekend of March.
 
ON DECK
Stony Brook plays its last road series on Staten Island next weekend as the Seawolves meet Wagner for a three-game set at the home of the Staten Island Yankees, Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
