Stony Brook Set to Take on Binghamton in the America East Tournament

STONY BROOK, N.Y.- The #3 seeded Stony Brook softball team is set to take on #6 seeded Binghamton in the first round of the America East Championships on Wednesday, May 8 at 1:30 pm. The Championships will take place at the University of Hartford.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Seawolves are coming off a series win at Maine. In the victories, Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) picked up wins in the circle. Rahrich also had a solid weekend at the plate, recording six hits in 12 at bats. 
 
LAST TIME OUT VS. BINGHAMTON 
Stony Brook faced the Bearcats in a three-game series on Saturday April 6 through Sunday, April 7. Binghamton ended up taking game one and game two.  In the lone victory for the Seawolves in game two,  Shelbi Denman (Las Vegas, Nev.) picked up her sixth win of the season holding the Bearcats to two runs. 
 
SCOUTING BINGHAMTON
The Bearcats enter the tournament with a 17-27 record (6-12 AE). Freshman infielder Marissa Braito leads the Bearcats in hits with 42. Junior Rayn Gibson has seen most of the action in the circle pitching in 93.2 innings, owning a 4.26 ERA.
 
GOING THE DISTANCE
Rahrich leads the team with 24 complete games in the circle. Denman has eight and Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) has two. 
 
IN THE CONFERENCE RANKS
Stony Brook leads the America East in batting average (.294) and pitching (2.60 ERA). Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) is first in runs scored (52), and Rahrich leads in rbis (58) and home runs (17). 
 
RECORD SETTING RAHRICH
Rahrich is ninth in the program record book in wins with 16 in a single season, tied for seventh in single season shutouts with 6, fourth in single season batting average (.416) second in single season home runs with 17 and first in single season rbis with 58.
