FULL SCHEDULE
STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Nine home games and four 2018 NCAA Tournament teams await the Stony Brook women's soccer team in the upcoming 2019 season that starts August 22 at LaValle Stadium against Northeastern.
Â
"We are very excited to start our 2019 season," Stony Brook women's soccer head coach
Tobias Bischof said. "It starts with a very challenging non-conference schedule with highlight games against St. John's and Hofstra at LaValle Stadium and at West Virginia. The non-conference schedule should prepare us well for the grind of the America East conference play."
Â
The season opener with the Huskies is the first of two games at home to start the 2019 season with the latter coming on August 25 when the Seawolves take on Manhattan.
Â
Stony Brook's first road trip sends them to Newark, Del. for a bout with Delaware's Blue Hens on August 30 and to Philadelphia, Pa. and Saint Joseph's for a September 1 clash.
Â
Two area rivals come to LaValle Stadium the following week, with St. John's making the trip on September 5 and CAA Champion Hofstra coming on September 8. The Pride defeated fourth-seeded Boston College in the First Round of last season's NCAA Tournament by a 4-1 final.
Â
Another NCAA Tournament team awaits after the Battle of Long Island when West Virginia plays welcome to the Seawolves on September 12. The Mountaineers earned the No. 2 seed in the Florida State Section of the bracket, winning their first game of the tournament as well.
Â
After a local battle with Fordham commences at LaValle on September 19, the Seawolves begin their defense of the America East Regular Season title from a year ago, trekking to Maine for the conference opener on September 22.
Â
That road trip will extend two more games, with stops at Boston University on September 25 and Delaware State on the 29
th.
Â
Three of the next four games will be at LaValle Stadium, with UMBC (October 3), UMass Lowell (October 13) and defending league champion UAlbany (October 17) coming to town. Splitting those up is a road match at Binghamton on October 16.
Â
Burlington, Vt. is the next stop for the Seawolves on October 20 with the team's final home game coming on October 27. The regular season finale will be in West Hartford, Conn. against the Hawks on Halloween night.
Â
The America East Tournament will be played on November 3, 7 and 10 with the higher seeds hosting each round.
Â
The Seawolves are coming off an 11-7-1 record a season ago, including a 6-1-1 resume during America East play. This included a 2-1 overtime win at Oregon State and a 1-0 win at Seton Hall for the team's two Power 5 victories. At home, the Seawolves won six of their seven contests.
