MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The Stony Brook women's soccer team fell in a battle with a Top 25 team on Thursday night, dropping its contest against No. 23 West Virginia.

- 10th minute – West Virginia 1, Stony Brook 0 – The Mountaineers scored their first goal off a scrum in front when a blocked shot ended up in front of an open net.
- 43rd minute – West Virginia 2, Stony Brook 0 – West Virginia was able to open up the Stony Brook defense with a ball through the centerbacks to create a 1-on-1 situation.
- 61st minute – West Virginia 2, Stony Brook 1 – DePonte played a beautiful ball that split the centerbacks, allowing O'Connor to go in on the keeper. She was able to finish with a curling shot into the top corner.
- 62nd minute – West Virginia 3, Stony Brook 1 – Off a corner, the hosts were able to punch a shot into the roof of the net from close range.
- 67th minute – West Virginia 4, Stony Brook 1 – The home team was able to again play a ball in behind that allowed them to circle the keeper and score on an open frame.
- 70th minute – West Virginia 5, Stony Brook 1 – The final goal of the night was a curler into the top corner from 25 yards.
- 89th minute – West Virginia 6, Stony Brook 1 – The Mountaineers converted on another set piece with a clean header into the net off a corner.
STATS AND NOTES
- After assists in home games against St. John's and Hofstra, O'Connor scored the first goal of her Seawolves career to become Stony Brook's sixth different goal scorer this season.
- DePonte recorded her second assist of the season on the goal and now stands with six points on the year. That is tied for the team lead.
- Junior Sofia Manner (Helsinki, Finland) made eight saves on the night for Stony Brook. She now has 14 in her last two matches.
