Wright Tabbed as CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week


RICHMOND, Va. -- Stony Brook football's junior punter Mitchell Wright (Sydney, Australia) was named the CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday.

Wright averaged 43.0 yards on six punts in the Seawolves' 35-10 season-opening victory over Bryant on Thursday night. The ambidextrous kicker placed three punts inside the 20-yard line, including two kicks that pinned Bryant inside the two-yard line. Wright's long punt of 62 yards was the best in the CAA during week one.

Stony Brook travels to Utah State on Saturday at face the FBS foe out of the Mountian West Conference. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET and the game can be see on Facebook Live. The Seawolves will then return home for the final two non-conference games of the season when they host Wagner on Sept. 7 and Fordham on Sept. 14. Kickoff for both games at Kenneth P.
