Sakowicz Earns Season-High as Stony Brook Falls to Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Stony Brook volleyball team fell to Yale in three sets (17-25, 14-25, 21-25) on Friday night as the squad opened up play at the Yale Invitational.

The Seawolves (3-9) went on a 7-2 run late in the third set to knot things up at 19 apiece, but the Bulldogs (2-5) closed out down the stretch to take the match victory in straight sets.

Coach Belzung's Reaction
"Yale is a really good volleyball team and they exposed our weaknesses tonight by both keeping us out of system and not allowing us to get into a rhythm defensively. We have controllable issues that we can be better at executing and will need to do that tomorrow against two tough opponents."

By the Numbers vs. Yale
- Senior LeAnne Sakowicz (Wauconda, Ill.) earned a season-high 27 assists on the night as well as seven digs, two kills and one ace.
- Senior Liz Pulver (Temecula, Calif.) had a team-high nine kills while junior Kiani Kerstetter (Cardiff, Calif.) led the way in digs with nine.
- Senior Kendra Harlow (St. James, N.Y.) and freshman Amiyah De'Long (Anaheim, Calif.) each pitched in eight kills.
- Sophomore Paige Jaeger (Oconomowoc, Wis.) contributed seven digs.

Notes

- The team's highest attack percentage came in the third set (37.1 percent).
