STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook volleyball team battled hard with Island rival Hofstra, but ultimately fell in four close sets on Tuesday night at Pritchard Gym in the team's home opener.
The Seawolves (0-4) claimed the first set played this season on their home court, but were edged by Hofstra (2-2) in the next three (25-23, 23-25, 23-25, 20-25).
Coach Belzung Reaction
"Huge thank you to everybody for filling Pritchard tonight. It was a great feeling to return home to that environment. After a short turnaround, I'm proud of the group for making some improvements from the weekend but we weren't in a good enough offensive rhythm to get it done tonight. Hofstra put pressure on us to earn our points and while I thought we fought, we didn't execute the easy plays well enough to get the job done."
