STONY BROOK, N.Y. –For the second time this season, the Stony Brook women's soccer team needed overtime to finish a match at LaValle Stadium. For the second time this season, they came out on top thanks to a golden goal, this time from the foot of junior
Alyssa Francese (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.).
Francese took a pass from classmate
Erin O'Connor (Setauket, N.Y.) and was able to power it into the top corner to give the Seawolves their third home win in as many tries during the 2019 campaign.
BISCHOF'S REACTION
"I think we had a pretty good gameplan. I think we were prepared very well and that is all thanks to my coaching staff. We created quite a lot of chances against a very well-coached team. The finishing will come later in the season but we had a lot of chances tonight and it was awesome to see us push the ball as well as we did to win the game."
SCORING SUMMARY
- 93rd minute – Stony Brook 1, St. John's 0 – Freshman Skylar Papele (Holtsville, N.Y.) started the play down the right flank, sending O'Connor towards the end line.
