STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Stony Brook men's basketball team sits atop the America East standings after road wins at Maine and Vermont.
Now, the Seawolves finally get to play a conference home game.
Stony Brook faces New Hampshire. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. at Island Federal Arena.
"We played really well at both games," head coach Geno Ford said. "Finally getting home and playing in front of our fans will be a big lift for us."
This actually marks the fifth consecutive season the Seawolves have started unbeaten in their opening two matchups—although this year Stony Brook already has a signature win against defending America East champion Vermont under its belt.
The Seawolves enter their conference home opener following a six-day road trip that spanned more than 300 miles.
Redshirt junior guard Makale Foreman produced a game-high 22 points at Maine, while sophomore guard Miles Latimer adding in 14 points. Also scoring in double digits was junior guard Elijah Olaniyi and junior center Jeff Otchere, both with 11 points.
At Vermont, two Seawolves recorded double-doubles: Olaniyi with 28 points and 11 rebounds and redshirt junior forward Andrew Garcia, who had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Foreman contributed 23 points in the victory.
"I feel like we earned a little bit of respect," Olaniyi said. "We came in here and showed we can win on their court, and hopefully we take care of business again when we see them later in the season."
The Seawolves have been very good at home to start the 2019-20 campaign, winning four in a row at The Island by a margin of 14 points or more for the first time in the program's Division I history.
Against New Hampshire, Stony Brook leads the all-time series 21-17. Last season, the Seawolves swept the Wildcats, earning decisions of 62-44 on Long Island and 66-64 in Durham, N.H.
The Seawolves have not lost their first home league game since the 2010-11 season and are looking for their second consecutive 3-0 start in the league and fourth in the past five seasons.
