Stony Brook University continues to closely monitor the guidance provided by the CDC and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). Stony Brook University Interim President Michael Bernstein recently advised students, faculty and staff who have traveled through countries that have been designated by the U.S. Department of State for Level 2 Alerts and Level 3 Travel Warnings due to the spread of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus in those areas that they are subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine and are not permitted on campus. This advisory also applies to individuals who are planning to attend any basketball games or other Stony Brook sporting events.
 
In response to concerns over the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV), Stony Brook Athletics has instituted measures for fans seeking to attend this week's America East playoff basketball games at Island Federal Arena. This includes implementation of an attendance management initiative at indoor sporting events beginning with the men's basketball semifinal at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, and the women's basketball championship game on Friday at 5 p.m. (Outdoor sporting events are unaffected at this time.)

Ticket sales will be monitored to ensure fans will have the opportunity to maintain a safe distance from one another should they so desire. Additionally, ticket sales will be discontinued at noon on game day and no tickets will be sold at the door.
 
As the coronavirus situation evolves, the health and safety of our students, guests and staff members is paramount. It is important for guests to feel safe and have an enjoyable experience. As such, we are implementing additional precautions:
 
• Additional cleaning staff at the venue and frequent handwashing by servers
• Hand sanitizer will be available for guests 
• A "no handshake" policy for the evening will be encouraged 
• Increasing the rigor of cleaning and sanitizing procedures
