Men's Soccer Upended Against UMass Lowell

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Stony Brook men's soccer team saw its two-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon, falling at the hands of UMass Lowell 3-1 at LaValle Stadium.

The visiting River Hawks scored in the seventh minute to start their goals and followed it up with strikes in the 41st and 56th to separate themselves from the hosts.

Stony Brook got on the board late as Trevor Harrison's free kick doinked the post and found Kori Cupid, who put it into an open goal.

The Seawolves were able to generate five corners to Lowell's two.

STATS AND NOTES
  • Cupid's goal is his third of the season, one off the team lead. Jonas Bickus and Aki Solvason hold that title with four apiece.
  • That marks a new career high for him in a season, besting the two he had in the spring.
  • The assist on the goal is Harrison's second of the year and is also good for second in that category.
  • The Smithtown native matches his total from the spring with a pair of helpers on the season.
  • Stony Brook currently sits fourth with nine points in league contests. They are a point behind Binghamton and UAlbany for second place.

UP NEXT
