Women's Soccer Dominates Offensively, Can't Find Goals in Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Despite a clear advantage in shots (15-5), corners (7-2) and offensive pressure, Stony Brook women's soccer could not find the production in a 2-0 loss against Hartford on Sunday afternoon.

The Seawolves, who had 70 percent of their possession inside of Hartford's half of the field, were able to create chance after chance against the Hawks, but good defending and six saves from Hartford keeper Maia Perez kept them off the scoresheet.

Stony Brook now sits three points outside of the top six for the America East postseason with two games remaining as the quarterfinals sit two weeks away.

STATS AND NOTES
  • Stony Brook controlled the ball on the afternoon, maintaining 53 percent of possession to Hartford's 47. 38 percent of the Seawolves' possession was spent inside Hartford's final quarter.
  • Madison Sleiman played 47 minutes, her highest in America East play and third-most this season. She played 55 against LIU and 50 against Hofstra in the first two contests of the season.
  • 10 different Seawolves recorded a shot, led by Alyssa Francese with three.
  • Chelsie DePonte, Tatum Kauka and Catharina von Drigalski all added a pair, with both of von Drigalski's going on frame.
