KINGSTON, R.I. – Redshirt junior running back
Ty Son Lawton was the driving force behind Stony Brook's (1-4, 0-2 CAA) offense as he rushed for a career-high 154 yards and a touchdown in the Seawolves' 27-20 overtime defeat at No. 21/23 Rhode Island (4-0, 2-0 CAA) on Saturday.

Justin Morgan,
Kyle Nunez, and
Anthony Catapano and found the end zone from 30 yards out.
Graduate quarterback

Stony Brook and Rhode Island went back and forth on Saturday with the Seawolves coming up just a bit short in the end. The Seawolves forced overtime by tying the game up at 20-20 with 7:40 to go in the fourth quarter. Fields converted a crucial fourth and three by pulling the ball down and running for his second touchdown of the game from eight yards out.
The Rams had two chances to go ahead towards the end of the fourth quarter, but their kicker C.J. Carrick missed a pair of field goals (45 yards, 51 yards) following key third down stops by the Stony Brook defense. Carrick's second miss, a 51-yarder, came as time expired in the fourth quarter and forced overtime.
Rhode Island struck on its second play of the overtime period as Kasim Hill found Caleb Warren for a 27-yard touchdown to put the Rams ahead, 27-20. The Seawolves got the ball back and moved the chains on a third and 10 from the Rhode Island 25-yard line as Fields found redshirt sophomore
Shawn Harris Jr. for a 14-yard connection.
Stony Brook marched down to the Rhode Island two-yard line, but were denied by the Rams' defense on fourth and one. The goal line stop clinched the game for Rhode Island and concluded the overtime period.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"It was a good college football game from a fan's perspective, I thought both teams played really hard and we really competed. We lost to a good football team. We were able to get back into the game, go ahead, and unfortunately ended up on the wrong side of an overtime defeat," said head coach
Chuck Priore.
"I think we are a good football team. If we play like we played today we will win plenty of games. You can look back at your other losses, but the CAA is a competitive conference and these games are going to be close," said Priore.
