STONY BROOK, N.Y. — From IMG Academy, Rocco Muratori has signed with the Stony Brook men's basketball program.
The 7-foot-3-inch West Lafayette, Indiana native was listed as a top three center in the state of Indiana, as well as a top 30 overall player. He averaged 12.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game his sophomore season.
"I'm incredibly excited to be attending Stony Brook University this coming year," Muratori said. "I want to give a special thanks to Coach Ford and staff for giving me the opportunity to be on their team. I look forward to helping propel this program in the right direction and help them achieve new heights."
Muratori is currently playing for nationally-renowned IMG Academy in Florida for the upcoming season after qualifying for GEICO Nationals two seasons in a row at La Lumiere in West Lafayette.
"Rocco is a great get for our program," head coach Geno Ford said. "He has obvious size but what you don't see is his tremendous desire to be special. He has great hands and will impact the game at both ends of the floor. He is a great student and just an awesome teammate. We are confident he is going to have a significant impact on our program. He has a super bright future and we can't wait to get him on campus."
He also earned national recognition with Indiana Elite, his AAU program, competing very well with them on the Adidas Circuit.
"I bring grit, hard work, and determination to this program," Muratori added. "I look forward to getting on campus and getting to work. Go Seawolves!"
