STONY BROOK, N.Y. — As the Stony Brook women's basketball team awaits its semifinal opponent in the America East Tournament, the Seawolves claimed some individual awards on Friday.

McKenzie Bushee was named the conference's Sixth Player of the Year and Hailey Zeise was named to the All-Defensive and All-Academic teams. Additionally, Asiah Dingle and India Pagan earned second-team and Anastasia Warren earned third-team All-America East honors.

Bushee, a 6-foot-1 senior forward from Pittsburgh, is averaging 6.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game while appearing in every game and making two starts this season. She tallied a career-high-matching 14 points and set a career high with four steals in a 63-52 win against Hofstra on Dec. 14.

The 5-10 Zeise, a Pittsburgh native like Bushee, has contributed 24 steals, 19 blocks and 71 rebounds in 17 games (16 starts). She owns a 3.93 GPA as a graduate student pursuing a degree in higher education administration.

"Kenzie has been a staple of consistency for us all season," coach Caroline McCombs said. "She has grown so much in her leadership role and never takes a day off. She brings an abundant amount energy to our team that propels us in practice and in games.

"Hailey has always accepted and taken so much pride in guarding our opponents go-to players. We value our team defense, and so this is a special award. And Hailey's focus and commitment to her academic rigors is top notch. She exemplifies what it is to be a student-athlete and has set a tremendous example for our underclassman. She graduated in three years, and will finish with her master's degree this spring."

Dingle, a 5-4 guard from Boston, who joined the Seawolves this season as a transfer from Kent State, is averaging a team-high 11.1 points per game.

Pagan, a 6-1 forward from New London, Conn., became the 18th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points on Jan. 17. She is averaging 9.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Pagan plans to represent Puerto Rico in the Olympics this summer.

Warren, a 5-8 guard from Atlanta, is averaging 10.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. She led the Seawolves in scoring in consecutive games at New Hampshire Jan. 16-17.

Stony Brook completed the regular season 13-5 overall and 11-3 in league play. The Seawolves host an America East semifinal on March 7 at 3 p.m. at Island Federal Arena.
