STONY BROOK, N.Y. — After a February full of accolades for Stony Brook junior goalkeeper
Anthony Palma, the East Islip native added one more to his résumé.
Palma was named the Centereach Hyundai Student-Athlete of the Month following a February that saw him earn his first career collegiate wins and a pair of significant recognitions.
In Stony Brook's season-opening win against Sacred Heart on Feb. 13, Palma made 10 saves, helping lead the Seawolves to a 20-8 victory. The following week, the junior recorded a career-best 16 saves, allowing just one goal in the second half of Stony Brook's 14-8 win over Bryant.
Palma was named America East Defensive Player of the Week and also earned a spot on the USILA Team of the Week following the standout performance against Bryant.
Palma and the Seawolves are back in action on Friday, March 12 when they travel to the Carrier Dome to take on Syracuse. The game can be seen on ACC Network at 1 p.m.
