NEWARK, N.J. — Gabriel Fernandes got the Stony Brook men's soccer team on the scoreboard and
Aki Solvason continued his goal binge on Friday afternoon.
And the pair helped lift the Seawolves to a 2-0 victory over host NJIT.
Stony Brook (1-2-1, 1-0-1 AE) remained unbeaten in America East play.
Edmond Kaiser produced his second straight shutout in goal for the Seawolves.
Fernandes opened the scoring off an assist from
Jack Valderrabano in the sixth minute.
Solvason then scored for the third time in four matches off a feed from
Stephen Turnbull in the ninth minute.
"It was a really good performance on all levels today," coach Ryan Anatol said. "We started well and were dangerous in the attack. We also defended really well when needed and got a deserved clean sheet."
Stony Brook returns to action next Friday when it hosts New Hampshire at 1 p.m. at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
